The war against terrorism and insurgency is a collective duty- General Musa
The Theatre Commander, Operation Hadin Kai ( OPHK), Major General CG Musa has enjoined Nigerians to see the war against insurgency and terrorism as a collective duty. The Theatre Commander made these remarks when the delegation of BRAVE IT ( Building Resilience against Violent Extremism, Insurgency, and Terrorism) paid him a courtesy call at the Headquarters Theatre Command, Maiduguri.
” Every Nigerian must see this fight as a collective duty and not just the exclusive duty of the military or the people of the northeast region or Borno State. No, this is a matter of national concern and so everyone should try to contribute his or her own quota.
“What BRAVEIT is doing is good and we are proud to associate with you. There is a need for CSOs to come up with homegrown solutions for non-kinetic strategies to bring the insurgency to an end. As you can see, the insurgents are surrendering in their thousands, and more will still surrender. The Chief of Army Staff is up and doing; he has been going round the country to see that security is improved,” said General Musa.
In his remarks, Dr Abubakar Mohammed, Coordinator General of BRAVEIT said that BRAVEIT seeks to help people in the northeast to develop the requisite knowledge and competencies needed to cope, endure and overcome insurgency and terrorism.
” Our people must never give up or succumb to the prolonged tactics of the insurgents but instead remain resolute and undaunted. This can only be achieved through strategic communication, a firm commitment to democratic norms and rule of law. Our people must know that insurgency itself is politics by means of arm conflict so they must not succumb to the lie that terrorism is about Islam or any such thing.
” Everyone deserves a second chance therefore those who are surrendering or who had surrendered should be accepted by the society although there is a need to factor in the victims too,” said Dr. Mohammed.
Another member of the BRAVEIT delegation, Alhaji Aji Kalli thanked the Theatre Commander and enjoined the military not to relent in their fight against terrorism and insurgency. ” We want to commend the TC and the Theatre. We are seeing the results. Insha Allah we will collaborate with the Theatre to see that this success is sustained,” said Alhaji Aji.
